LEMON TREE TEAM
Prior to relocating to DC, Whitney was a public school teacher in South Carolina, where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Clemson University. Since moving to the area in 2010, her focus has shifted to parents and their transition into parenthood; gaining experience as a nanny, Early Head Start parent educator, and a certified Postpartum Doula.
Originally drawn to the philosophy and atmosphere of Lemon Tree, she loves being back in the classroom and working to create more programs for this growing community.
Whitney lives in Logan Circle and enjoys exploring the new restaurants in the neighborhood and being overly confident about her college football team (Go Tigers!).
Sarah moved to Washington, DC in 2014 and lives in southeast DC with her husband and son. She has a Bachelor's in Psychology and received her Master's in Early Childhood Special Education from the George Washington University in 2017.
She is grateful to have seen her son grow up at Lemon Tree, and through this, was able to experience the community as both a parent and an owner of the business. This distinctive point of view has not only brought new meaning into her life, but has also helped our program become a more holistic experience for families.
Sarah is always on the search for the best oat milk latte (shout out to Peregrine!) and loves adventuring around the city with her growing family.
Karissa grew up in Southern Indiana, where she received both her B.S in Public Health and her MSW from Indiana University. She moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 2016 and has a wealth of knowledge about programming with little ones as she has worked with both Tiny Chefs and Little Gym, as well as a full time nanny. She is passionate about working with kids and loves meeting new people!
When she isn’t working, she loves to bake, play with her kitties, find new brunch spots all over DC and Alexandria, and daydream at West Elm.
